Finance Analyst

Job Description

Reporting to the Controller, the Analyst will support the financial functions during the construction and the plant start-up and operations of the Plant. The incumbent will also be responsible for processing payroll for the Sarnia employees. The Analyst will promote a strong health, safety and environment culture on site and within the team.
 
Responsibilities
  • Support the day to day functions of the finance department;
  • Process  Accounts Payable & Receivables and purchase orders;
  • Verify vendor invoice coding  with G/L and WBS accounts;
  • Verify vendor statements to invoices posted in the Accounts Payable Sub Ledger;
  • Support the payroll function as required;
  • Reconcile company procurement card statements;
  • Prepare and analyze monthly and annual financial statements;
  • Respond to financial inquiries and assist in resolving financial issues;
  • Ensure appropriate internal controls, processes and procedures are in place to properly safeguard the companies' assets;
  • Process reconciliations;
  • Generate journal entries required to reflect various activities and reconcile accounts;
  • Prepare cash flow projections and develop annual budgets;
  • Review financial information and processes with Controller;
  • Prepare external reports and worksheets for 3rd parties and external audits year-end audits and respond;
  • Maintain P.O. registers, incurred costs and actual costs reports to support project controls;
  • Enter financial information into project controls system as required;
  • Support the implementation of a new ERP system;
  • Draft Project and operational procedures under the guidance of the Controller;
  • Co-ordinate the set-up and input into the Plant asset management module;
  • General payroll entry of updating employee’s information on the payroll system;
  • Other duties as required.

Job Qualifications

 
  • Professional accounting designation preferred, CGA or CMA;
  • University degree or college diploma in Business Admin or related field;
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in varied accounting functions in a computerized environment;
  • Ability to communicate policy and procedures to all levels within an organization;
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills;
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work in a team environment and put the team first;
  • Ability to meet tight timelines and long hours during critical time periods;
  • Eligibility to work in Canada.
