ARD and DNP are two leading companies in the field of white biotechnology. Both companies are focused on developing innovative bio-based technologies and derivative products. Similarly, the purpose of Bio-amber is not only to produce bio-based succinic acid and derivatives, but also to develop, through internal R&D or in-licensing, technology packages for out-licensing purposes.
Having already established a 80 m3 pilot plant for the production of bio-based succinic acid, Bio-amber is building an industrial demonstration facility with a production capacity of several thousand tons per year. The purpose of this plant is to validate the technology on an industrial scale before moving into the out-licensing phase anticipated for the years 2010-2011.
As a result, Bio-amber is clearly positioned to partner, rather than compete, with the main players in the chemical industry. As a partner, Bio-amber is looking for companies interested in obtaining licenses for the production of bio-based succinic acid and/or its derivatives on an industrial scale.
