BioAmber to present with CCP Composites at the European Bioplastics Conference in Berlin

Babette Pettersen, Chief Commercial Officer of BioAmber Inc., to present together with Celine Verrat, Sustainable Development Manager, CCP Composites at this year's European Bioplastics Conference on December 11th, 2013 in Berlin

December 5, 2013
CCP Composites is the world’s second largest producer of unsaturated polyester resins; a global leader in thermoset composites, and No. 1 in Gel Coats. CCP is a subsiduary of the Total Group; part of the refining & chemicals business, and effectively, the thermoset ‘arm’ of Total. This presentation will focus on how bio-sourcing, and specifically the use of BioAmber bio-succinic acid creates a unique opportunity to bring new properties to resins and composites, broadening their addressable markets.

Celine Verrat is the Sustainable Development Manager for CCP Composites. CCP's first challenge was to prove performance as well as increasing renewable content in a low profile additive (LPA) for Sheet Molding Compounds (SMC's) for composites for exterior automotive panels. The surprise was that they not only increased the bio-based content with BioAmber Bio-SA, but they also discovered novel properties in automotive parts; effectively, a unique combination of surface aesthetics and mechanical properties (impact resistance), which offer unexpected performance benefits in exterior automotive panels.
