    BioAmber Inc. Files Registration Statement for Proposed Initial Public Offering

    Minneapolis, MN, November 14, 2011- BioAmber Inc. has filed a registration statement on Form S-1 with the Securities and Exchange Commission for a proposed initial public offering of its common stock. The number of shares to be offered in the proposed offering and the price range for the offering have not yet been determined. The lead book-running managers for the offering are Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Credit Suisse Securities (USA) LLC. The additional book-running manager is Barclays Capital. The co-managers are Stifel, Nicolaus & Company, Incorporated and Pacific Crest Securities LLC.

    BioAmber Inc. and Mitsui & Co. to Build and Operate Plants Producing Succinic Acid and BDO

    Minneapolis, MN November 8, 2011 – BioAmber Inc., a next-generation chemicals company, and Mitsui & Co., a leading global trading company, have partnered to build and operate the previously announced manufacturing facility in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. The initial phase of the facility is expected to have production capacity of 17,000 metric tons of biosuccinic acid and commence commercial production in 2013. The partners intend to subsequently expand capacity and produce 35,000 metric tons of succinic acid and 23,000 metric tons of 1,4 butanediol (BDO) on the site. BioAmber Inc. and Mitsui also intend to jointly build and operate two additional facilities that, together with Sarnia, will have a total cumulative capacity of 165,000 tons of succinic acid and 123,000 tons of BDO. BioAmber Inc. will be the majority shareholder in the plants.

    BioAmber Inc. Partners with PTTMCC Biochem for PBS production in Thailand

    Minneapolis, MN September 14, 2011 – PTTMCC Biochem (PTTMCC), a joint venture between PTT PLC and Mitsubishi Chemical, has selected BioAmber Inc. as its partner for a polybutylene succinate (PBS) plant that will begin construction in Thailand in 2012. BioAmber Inc. will build a biobased succinic acid plant in Thailand and supply PTTMCC with biobased succinic acid on an exclusive basis. Succinic acid is the principal starting material for the production of PBS, along with 1,4-butanediol.

    BioAmber Inc. Announces Biobased Succinic Acid Plant in Ontario, Canada

    Minneapolis, MN August 29, 2011 – BioAmber Inc., through its subsidiary Bluewater Biochemicals has selected Sarnia, Ontario, Canada as the location for its first North American biosuccinic acid plant. The Sarnia plant will have an initial capacity of 17,000 MT and will be commissioned in 2013. Permitting work for the plant was initiated in June 2011. BioAmber Inc. currently produces and sells biobased succinic acid at a 3,000 MT capacity plant in France.

    BioAmber Inc. Closes $45 Million Series B to Fund Succinic and Adipic Platforms

    Minneapolis, MN 4 May 2011 – BioAmber Inc., the market leader in biobased succinic acid, has raised $45 million dollars in a Series B financing that will accelerate the commercialization of succinic acid and modified PBS. The round was led by NAXOS Capital Partners, a European based growth capital fund focused on acquiring and developing businesses with unique intellectual property or market position with a focus on renewable agro and food business, energy and clean-technology. Joining NAXOS as a new investor in BioAmber Inc. was Mitsui & Co., a leading Japanese trading company, which participated through its Cleantech & Healthcare Investment Department. The round was co-led by BioAmber Inc.’s largest shareholder, Sofinnova Partners, a leading European venture capital firm. Also participating in the round were existing investors Mitsui & Co. Venture Partners, based in Palo Alto California, and the Cliffton Group, based in Montreal, Quebec.

    Minneapolis, MN 26 April 2011 – BioAmber Inc. has joined forces with Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation in the field of biobased succinic acid, in a strategic agreement that makes BioAmber and its Asian distribution partner Mitsui & Co. the exclusive suppliers of biobased succinic acid to Mitsubishi Chemical. The three companies are also conducting a feasibility study to build a succinic acid production facility next to Mitsubishi’s planned PBS production plant in Thailand.
